I thought you might be interested in my family history research. Daniel Defoe’s father and Uncle were born in Etton but his wider family appeared in Peakirk in 1560 (Thomas Fooe or Foe) and in Glinton in 1569. In fact the Foe family remained in and around that area until at least 1655. I wondered if anyone has done research along these lines?
Hello Peter
I’m personally not aware of these links with Daniel Defoe, but I have forwarded your comment to our local historian. I’ll get back to you once I have a response.

I would like to know whether or not the Fo(o)e/Defoe family had a coat of arms. There is an engraving of Daniel with a shield: per chevron invected (colours uncertain, but possibly red and gold) with three griffins statant (on all four legs) probably counterchanged. I would appreciate any information on this.
